Side Effects (Hair loss (alopecia)): this surprised me, I knew it was coming, but I cried anyway

I think we all do. To me it was one of the first signs that this is real. As a woman your hair is part of who you are. As a male I think it was more ego. I've lost my hair for a second time except for a patch in the back of my head. I wear my do tags when I go out mainly to protect from the sun and if I start to get overheated they're good to wet down. Smile it's less shampoo to buy. :-)

      Hi kat102951,
I lost about half of my hair and it was surprising to me as well. I got my hair cut very short before I started chemo. It did not bother me all that much. There are some very cute hats you can wear, and besides, bald is beautiful! When my hair grew back in after chemo it was nice an wavy, (just what I have always wished for), but my normal hair did return and I still have it cut short because I like it. Your cancer center may have something called "Look Good...Feel Better" which can be fun. They show how to wear hats and use makeup to look good. Best wishes to you.
