Oh No (Incision port site opened after having staples out): I am going back to the Dr. today to have one of my incisions checked. I had my staples out Wed. and Friday night my incision popped right open while sitting on the toilet. It is my mid line port site about 3 inches above my belly button. It drained several tablespoons of yellow clear fluid, then stopped. Scared me to death but Dr. on call said it just had not healed. The fluid is the fluid that occurs after any type of traumatic surgery. Still going to get it checked to make sure I'm not getting infected.

Procedure or Surgery (Laparascopic colon surgery): January 8th had my colon resection done. It went from a lap to an open surgery due to complications known previously. (My uterus was in the way!) I spent 4 nights in the hospital, then went home with percoset. No bag and on a soft diet for a few days. I had 39 staples in my multiple incisions, they were pinching badly but I iced them constantly and switched to advil which helped significantly. I had the staples out today, I am healing well. I have overdone eating food a few times and feel really uncomfortably bloated when I do so. I have had some constipation but not horrible. My bladder is irritated from having a urinary catheter placed during surgery but that seems better. My surgeon said to expect several more weeks of imperfect bowel habits...need to find my new normal. I am happy to be done surgery for the time being. The histopath came back Stage 1 Invasive adenocarcinmoa with no lymphnode involvement noted in 28 lymphnodes. I am encouraged. Next step is meeting my oncologist next week.

So glad you are now healing. Very encouraging news from your pathology. You got this!! Continue to rest and don't overdo. It will take time for your bowels to straighten out. Be patient and things will be better soon. God Bless!
