I tried it earlier this year with no results. I'm sure it's not that way for everyone, just my experience.

If you believe you are running out of options, it is time to find a new doctor who can offer options.

At least an independent second opinion. That entails gathering copies of all your records, scans, disks, reports and so on and seeking advice from somone completely unrelated (even unknown) to your current doc.

Of course, unless you actually come to believe you are actually out of options, this advice may be premature.

Just had CT scan after 2 rounds. Showing response and tumor shrinkage already. Even my Onc. wasnt expecting that! Hope to continue this trend!

Might be a good time to get an independent & qualified second opunion by someone very familiar with the issue.

Ever been to, say, the Mayo? Make sure to take copies of all scans, reports, Xrays, and CDs to your second opinion please.

I second Geekling on the second opinion. Things are happening so fast in the cancer field particularly for the big three (Breast, Lung, and Colon) that Dr.s can't keep up with the advances.

I was on Lonsurf for approximately 10 months. It was actually FDA approved while I was in the study. My side effects were few. But my platelet count really took a hit. I had to miss several rounds to give my counts a chance to rebound. I had several scans that showed minimal growth so I was no longer considered a good candidate for the drug. I'm currently on folfiri with Avastin. I'm contacting MD Anderson today at my Dr's request. Keep fighting. Every day a new drug is being discovered. Believe me I completely understand your fears and concerns.
