Oh No (Health insurance issue): Cannot find anyone who will treat me. I have put in financial assistance applications at a dozen places and everyone is asking me to keep waiting. I just want to know where this cancer is and how to get rid of it!

How did you get diagnosed? I was fortunate enough to have insurance and a employer who has been so supportive. I went to the ER on Thursday, October 30, to the gynecologist on Monday, November 3, and had a full hysterctomy by November 11. I had poorly differentiated carcinosarcoma Stage IIIC1. I started chemo on December 15. Last check the bill was over $80,000. If you can't get help at a Department of Human Services I would try talking to someone at the nearest American Cancer Society they may be able to help you find resources.

I was diagnosed by an OB with a free clinic in the area but they do not have an oncology department so I am STILL waiting, I have not even been staged yet. Everyone who has been able to see me basically treats me for pain and then sends me home.

Thinking of you, wondering if you have made any progress? The open enrollment period to sign up for individual health insurance under the health care law known as the Affordable Care Act begins November 15, 2014 and runs through February 15, 2015. Go to localhelp.healthcare.gov to find help in your area, hope you have figured out some way to get the help you need.
