Celebration (CA 125 dropped 7 points to 110 after 4 weeks): I felt better other than the no hormone side effects.

Oh No (CA125 jumped from 53 to 117 in 6 weeks): Dr didn't want to put me in chemo so she put me on a pill to take daily that would stop ALL hormone production and wanted me to test the CA 125 in 4 wks. Hello being hot, grumpy, hungry and really really tired.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Hormone therapy): In March of 2016 she stopped chemo and put me on Tomaxafin. It is experimental for ovarian cancer. Her hope that by stopping the estrogen it would slow the growth of the recurrance.

Welcome! I was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer in January. Chemo (carboplatin, taxol and avastin) was very effective. Had surgery along the way. Many similar experiences with blood counts, etc. Now chemo is done and my CA 125 is 13 so doc has me on letrozole to stop estrogen production and Avastin in hopes of stopping a reoccurence from happening for as long as possible. Same side effects as Tomaxifin. It's no fun but I'm sure it beats the alternative. Being on maintenance indefinitely is a challenge, but I'm learning to live with it. If you ever need to vent this is a good place for it. People understand.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Dr Chapman put me in 3 chemo drugs: avastin, carboplatin, gemzar. They dropped my blood counts to nothing, I had to stay home and not be around anyone, I was sick, had intestinal issues and my CA 125 dropped to 48 but no lower. She kept me on chemo for 9 treatments.

Decision Point (I decided to change doctors. I left Research Hospital and went to KU Cancer Center): I moved to a new doctor
