Hi Lauren,
Just hang in there, it took me awhile to be approved for charity care at my cancer center but it did come through eventually with the help of my social worker. Unfortunately it can take awhile to get approved for temporary disability also but a social worker might be able to help you with that as well.
My friends threw a fundraiser party for me which helped a lot with my medical bills and prescription cost, we 'advertised' the event on FB and we had a great turnout!
BTW- I did post on the fundraising site 'Go Fund Me' but I didn't get a dime from it and don't they take about 10%? So you are doing a lot better than I did with that! And I hope that you raise more money soon!
There were a few organizations that helped me out a little, with gift cards for food and gasoline and that was fantastic, of course with chemo brain I can't remember any of the names but I do remember I will get back to you. Also please contact any association affiliated with your type of cancer for help. I had to knock on what felt like a million doors but I did get help. But I am back to suggesting that you find a social worker or cancer navigator, just ask at the hospital and they should put you in touch with someone. I know that some are better than others, but honestly I would have been completely lost without mine.
Wishing you lots of luck, love, and blessings! xoxoxo
If you get a good one it is amazing what they can do, because my social worker helped me tremendously, BTW- they are also called cancer navigators now as well.
But I just remembered "Cancer Card eXchange" and I got help with gift cards from them for food, some gasoline, necessities like that.
Good luck! xoxoxo
