Check with her doctors. About everything including how much distance you need to keep.

Wear a disposable mask around her always and disposable gloves, you can buy them at any drug store. For the future- she shouldn't be around anyone that hasn't had a flu shot ( although there are hundreds of flus and the shot only covers the most common ) or anyone sick or anyone who lives with anyone sick because they could carry the virus around. It is so hard because her immune system is severely compromised and that is why it takes her so long to recover, even a simple cold could turn into a serious health issue very quickly for a cancer patient. But please call her oncologist and ask for advise- of course let him know exactly what is going on with her and also that you and your father have had the flu as well. Of course check her temperature often and listen for coughing....but ask her oncologist what specifically to look for. Make sure you get him on the phone as well, keep calling if necessary! Doctors get busy but I always get mine on the phone when it is something important like this because you really need to ask him what to watch for concerning her lungs. And FYI- some cancer centers do not allow anyone sick with a flu or cold to be there, including the patients sometimes, so the flu can be really inconvenient to say the least! But it does sound like she is recovering and that you and your dad are as well. Hopefully you are all on the road to good health! Good luck and god bless!

I had radiation for uterine cancer. I don't think it affected my lungs. I was fortunate to stay well during my treatment, except for low blood counts (I needed 7 transfusions).
