I was told that all breast cancer was treated with surgery that it is the only way to rid the breast of it. I am a Stage II, but started out with a lumpectomy; however, 2 out of 3 sentinel nodes came bad with cancer. Then my surgeon told me breast conservation was out and I had to have a mastectomy. My decision was to have a bilateral so I will not have to worry about it at all. I plan on reconstruction once they decide if I will get chemo. I have started Arimidex. Peace of mind was what my husband and I wanted--I am 65.

Other Care (CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine)): I used color therapy, a form of meditation. I also had regular massages to flush my body of toxins.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Pain medicine): I took vicoprofin for nearly 2 years and it was amazing for bone pain. I only switched to vicodin because I didn't want to damage my stomach. I also took Morphine for a year and a half. I didn't have harsh side effects with either. I did have some shakes when I weaned myself from the Morphine.

Radiation (External radiation ): I have had radiation to my spine, my arm and my hip. The T7 was the most difficult as I had to go straight to chemo. It burned my esophagus and I couldn't swallow spit without a shot of lidocaine.
