Drug or Chemo Therapy (Aromasin): I think this drug and its "sisters" have been the hardest on me - as far as long term side effects. Procedure or Surgery (Mastectomy): This surgery went better than I expected it to. Getting the news that I had to have it done was the hard part. I had suprisingly little pain because everything was numb and after 3 years, much of it still is. Perhaps it is a little harsh to do this to myself, but I allow myself one day of absolute mourning and a great big pity party, each time I received "bad news". I would spend most of the day crying and feeling very sorry for myself. But the next day was "pick yourself up and move on" day. It has worked for me. I can't pretend that it is not happening, so I acknowleged it and grieve and move on.
