Hi, I had loads of chemo and radiation in my esophagus and it caused some seriously life changing structures within the area. I am going next month for a follow up and have a similar question to ask. I seem to have a small amount (not as much as your dad) that causes me to cough up every now and then throughout the day. I have no cold or anything else that may cause this other than the radiation scarring the throat over. I think the dilation will work on your dad and hopefully on me as well. Last time I went and had the scope, the Dr. told my wife there was significant scarring and I would have to adjust my eating lifestyle accordingly. But I want to make sure no bacteria builds up and causes any issue. Best of luck to your dad and your family going through this.
