Celebration (Remission): After a "Check dose" of iodine radiation (which is basically like doing it all over again), I was cleared from all cancerous cells in my body on December 22, 2010. It was a great day, and although I love my oncologist, I was glad I wouldn't be seeing him so often : )

Radiation (Internal radiation): The worst part about iodine radiation is the preparation. There are awesome recipes available on the Thyca website that helped me get through my no iodine diet. The radiation itself was easy, as simple as drinking strawberry kool-aide (just with a bunch of people watching you). I even got a private, speedy ride down the hospital elevator.

The aftermath of the radiation is simple. Plenty of time to nap and re-read the Harry Potter series, or at least, that's what I did. I found myself more tired than expected, and not very hungry. I never got sick or naseous, though.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Everything with the surgery went wonderfully. I only wish I had made the decision to get my entire thyroid out at once, instead of having to undergo two seperate surgeries once the tests came back that the nodule was actually a tumor.

Other than that, the surgery was wonderful. Ask for grape popsicles : )
