I moved to CA (from MI) one month after Mom was diagnosed, due to military service. I have been back to see her twice. The entire time, she has acted and looked 'normal' - her complete self. She lost hair, but other than that, you wouldn't know she underwent 6 rounds of chemo, and that she has extensive stage 4. I need to decide when to return to stay until .... Her cancer has metastasized into her lymph nodes, bone and liver, and is wrapped around her left lung, heart, and esophagus. She has yet to have any major symptoms. The Dr's have said they can do nothing more. How long will the chemo stay in her body to keep the active cancer at bay (her last round was beginning of March)? How long do we have with her? I have 4 small children and want to drive across the country to be with her during her last days. Should I go sooner rather than later? My dear husband cannot leave his work for that amount of time, so we will be separated, which will be hard on the children. I'm just looking for someone to help me know what I should do, in their experience.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Mom did 6 rounds of chemo, each lasting 3 days, with 3 weeks in between each round of treatment.

Oh No (Diagnosed): A week before Thanksgiving, Mom went in to ER for rapid heart rate. After a scan, they found a very large tumor in her chest cavity. Days later, they diagnosed Mom with Stage IV Lung Cancer - Extensive. It all happened very very quickly.
