Many thanks for the encouragement and support, miss Lori. I am indeed comforted by knowing the long road I walk bears the prints of untold thousands of thousands of boots before my own.

Peroll has been off this last round for 5 months now and he still feels all the effects. The longest period of time he's been off is around 13 months and he never stopped feeling the effects. He has stage 4 colon cancer.

For the most part the effect in the system is short. The cancer cells are exposed to the poison and they die. Once you stop giving the poison your body clears it from your system (some clear faster than others). The idea is that the cancer cells are dead from the poison and once the poison is removed the other cells can begin to recover. Hence, you hair starts to fill back in, your neuropathy starts to improve. Different cell lines recover at different rates. For example my hair is thicker and curlier now than before chemo but I still have some neuropathy (albeit improving)

some chemo effects may continue for awhile after treatment ends - for example, avastin works for 20 days with effects ending 6 weeks later ( that is when they let you have surgery).
