Hello and welcome, we are happy to have you with us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started with the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx. Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the database to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall. Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.

Procedure or Surgery (Mastectomy): 7/26/18.... I have a simple mastectomy. I have one JP drain in to monitor and measure my output. Drain out 15 days after surgery. Healing up pretty well. Mean while, my Breast Care Nurse Navagiator calls to make appointment for me to see Oncologist 7/20/18.... She says I probably will be doing chemo. Ok I’m telling you now that I vehemently will no do chemo. Negative nodes, and a simple mastectomy that showed no further invasion, tumors, have inches of clear margins. Call me contriary but this sounds good to me. Yes I’ll be needing to take Amiridex because of the Estrogen Receptor + , I was surgically menopause at 39. I was on Estrogen replacement up until 5 weeks ago.

Did you have Oncotype (Her2-) or Mammaprint (Her2+) done? Also, the online site you can use , Predict 2.0 can give you statistics with and without chemo. My numbers were only 1% better to do chemo so I declined. If chemo is highly recommended, look into scalp cooling systems. It gives 50-70% of not losing hair (thinning). Mythe aromatase did that to me and used a super vitamin so I did not look like a Xmas tree in Jan. Hang on. This is a journey!

To 2943 I am not HER2 nor progesterone...both are negative. Im only Estrogen positive. So I stopped my estrogen. My Onca type DX was 26, putting me with a 17% occurrence of a distant cancer reoccurring in 10 years. The Onca type DX...is silly to me as far as the way the numbers go. I mean anything over 30%..is considered hi-risk...yet the scale goes to 100. So what the heck? Ill check out the Predict 2.0 thing.

Oh No (My Doctor calls me on her day off to tell me......): That the margins of the lumpectomy were clear all the way round, with exception to the inferior margin. Only a 2mm margin was taken. But my lymph nodes are Negative!!!! Ok my experience from being an 1st Assistant tells me this can happen. So no worries. So I told my doctor we’re going back to get more specimen, right. Yes she tells me. Also she’s going to be OOT for the week. Meantime breast care nurse navagiator calls with same report as my doctor told me. She further tells me I’ll more than likely will be receiving radiation. Hmmmmmm....no liking the idea of being “cooked”. So husband and I talk. He’s supportive of what ever I wish to do. So I mull it over a few days and decide to just be done with all this. I email my doctor and inform her I decided to have a simple mastectomy and since my nodes are negative I wouldn’t need to do radiation. Of which I truly don’t want. My doctor ok with this. So......

Procedure or Surgery (Lumpectomy): Right breast lumpectomy with sentinel lymph node biopsy. Healed up very nicely.
