After reading what I just posted, I seem kinda gloomy. I just want all to know that I'm really doing great! I've learned to live with the long term minor problems. Life seemed to be back to normal after a couple of years of treatment. The best day post diagnosis was the day when I went to bed one night and realized that I didn't give my cancer a single thought that day.

Radiation: I received radiation treatments everyday for 6 weeks. The actual treatments were painless, but the radiation burns to my cheeks and mouth were painful. I'm just about ten years out and the long term radiation side effects for me are damage to my retinas, chronic ear ringing, and very little sense of taste. I have had laser surgery to my retinas in the past three years to prevent vision loss, and I continue to be monitored by the docs.

Procedure or Surgery: My chondrosarcoma tumor originated in my ethmoid sinus. The tumor had attached itself to my eyes, my cheek bones, my nose, my brain, and everything else in its way! My doctors performed a frontal craniotomy to remove the tumor. Essentially removing my face to get at the tumor. I truly felt no post-op pain. Recovery wasn't a piece of cake, but it really wasn't all that tough either.
