Oh No (The first lymph node was positive for cancer): Learned that she (my Mom) will have to do appx 4-6 rounds of chemo and will lose her hair. Granted, losing her hair is so much better than losing her life to cancer....but I think this is when the magnitude of the situation hit me.

If anyone has any advice for me on providing support to my Mom to help her through this, it is appreciated :)

I did 6 sessions of chemo, every 21 days with CMF cocktail. I was not supposed ot lose my hair but it thinned out and I had clumps fall out so I had some bald spots. I just went ahead and shaved it, as it was less traumatic for me than seeing those clumps coming out every day. I will not lie and say chemo is a picnic because it is not. But it is fighting her cancer and that is what's important. She will be different after this experience, I know I am, but I ahve embraced my new "normal." This is a great site with lots of helpful people, just don't be afraid to ask.

Procedure or Surgery (Lumpectomy and Lymph Node biopsy): OP sx went well. 6 lymph nodes biopsied. Recovery went well until appx day 6; swelling at site of lymph node biopsy that resulted in an infection. Quickly taken care of with antibiotics, but the fever and sickness knocked her recovery back quite a bit. 7 days after having the fever, she is just now regaining her strength.

Oh No (Diagnosed): Surprisingly, the actual diagnosis wasn't too bad. We all were focused on staying positive and having a positive outcome.
