I have done the Y-90 but stopped all treatment 30 days before 30 days after. I did this in Nov, had a cat scan a couple of weeks ago and it worked. My cancer had metastsized to the liver so it might be different than yours, it is uterine cancer. God bless you. If you have more questions let me know. Maybe we can email or something.

      Hi midgieb,

Thanks for sharing your experience and it's good to know that the Y90 procedure done to you was a success, thanks God. My case is hepatocellular carcinoma and has stable tumors on the outside of my liver but have 3 bigger lessions on my right lobe as of my last CT scan done last month. I have been taking sorafenib/Nexavar for almost 7 months now ,and my AFP count last 2 weeks was 11,000, down from as high as 68,000 last Aug. 2014 (my count had been going down gradually each month, thanks God), my hepatologist recommended me to undergo the Y90 procedure last week as my other tumors are stable and AFP is going down as well as my laboratory results are mostly in the normal level, liver function test , kidney function test and other CMP values. My hepatologist also discussed this matter with my oncologist and she also agreed with the procedure.. I have to stop taking the sorafeib 1 week before and 2 weeks after the procedure. I am just concerned with the safetyness of the procedure and its effect, especially with my sorafenib which for now is working good with me. So, I am asking other patients who have undergone this procedure to give more inputs and datas if you have any, with regards to this y90 procedure with combination of sorafenib.
Thank you again for your time and I hope you can give some more details with regards to this.

Well I had a 15 lb. tumor on my liver and it was removed. I was only prescribed Nexavar after they found a few spots on my lungs. They cannot remove the spots so the Nexavar was to just keep the spots from growing. Are all of the tumors/spots removed? My understanding is that the Nexavar will not "kill" the cancer just keep it from spreading. The nurses at the Nexavar help line can answer a lot of your questions.

I too had a liver resection in 2011 and a reoccurance in 2012. Have been on Nexavar ever since. I wish they had put me on in back in 2011, then maybe I would not have had a reoccurence. My surgeon said that he could have one another resection, however because my cancer had spread to my lng I had to gon on Nexavar. Like I said I wish they would have started me on in back in 2011, then maybe I would be off of it by now. It is not a traditional chemo drug, It is designed to slow the growth and cut off blood flow to the tumor. Hope this helps

Procedure or Surgery (Partial liver removal): I was first diagnosed as Liposarcoma and they did an extensive surgery on me slicing part of my liver, colon, and stomach. Hospital made a biopsy and change my diagnosis to Hepatocellular Carcinoma
fter 2 months my oncologist with the same hospital started me with NEXAVAR (Sorafenib) been taking it for a month and went to another Specialist for second opinion and told me to stop NEXAVAR because it is only for patients who did not undergo surgery (unresectable case only). Have to follow my second doctors order and still waiting for more MRI / CT SCan of my liver and bloodworks per his order. Now I am doubtful of the operation done to me by the hospital and treatment of NEXAVAR they have given me. I need some inputs from other ptient's with regards to this. Thank you
