Side Effects: Too many to mention....Cancer becomes you life when it is chronic. All your decisions are based on your treatment calendar and when you MIGHT feel ok.

Clinical Trial: I receive my treatments at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara, and the Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara. I have visited City of Hope and Stanford Medical Center. No one had anything to offer beyond what I was already receiving in Santa Barbara. Says wonderful things about my oncologist that he is at the top of his game, but frustrating that I don't have other options. Tested for both EGFR and ALK....negative on both.

Radiation: I have had 3 rounds of radiation. First to my chest/lymph nodes. then whole brain radiation where your head is bolted down by a mesh mask, then to my spine...again with a mask. But without it I would be dead. You hate it but you know you want to survive so you calm yourself down to survive it. I prayed several "Hail Mary's" through radiation.

Drug or Chemo Therapy: Well it is fairly easy to do if you have a power port. My chemo cocktail location is about an hour away, I can't drive, so that is a hassle since I have to have chemo for the rest of my life. Side effects are horrendous but you get used to them I guess. I spend a lot of time in bed because of fatigue, loss of focus, serious "chemo brain". Because of the cancer in the bones I have a lot of bone aches. However, I do my best to stay positive. Once I am sitting in the chair it can be relaxing, and the oncology nurses are fabulous. Then know me well since I have been going since last August 2010. I also take Xeloda for 14 days....a type of chemo pill.
