I had a nasty melanoma as a young woman, then recently ...... I had 2 basal cell carcinomas on my face which required Moh's surgery, then.... I had 3 more basal cell carcinomas on my legs, but, right now, at this very minute..... I have a very deep basal cell on the same site as one of the earlier carcinomas! I have yet another Moh's surgery scheduled in 2 weeks for that baby!
I have medium color complected skin which does not burn, so go figure.

Procedure or Surgery (Simple removal surgery ): Had a new growth on my left lower leg that was removed and biopsied and found to be of a negative result! Have had 3 node removals since original postive cancer diangnosis and all 3 have come back negative! Hoping that we had caught it in time that it now has been removed! Still scary though, the deepth of the original cancers growth......I mean, I am completely happy that mine is under control for the moment.....but melanoma has such the history of returning.....its a daily struggle not to think about it!

Your life has been altered in a way that this is the new normal. You have to try and go on with life and live it to the fullest. Now that you have been diagnosed with Melanoma which there is no remission you have to stay on top of everything. Make sure you keep up with your Dermatologist and Oncologist. I still after 4 1/2 years out I still go to both every 6 months for check ups. Which I will be seeing my Dermatologist this Tuesday down in Boston for my 6 month check up and next month its back to the Oncologist.
Good Luck,

I'm glad they all came back negative. I've got three new spots pop up and I'm gonna get them checked before I start treatment this Wednesday so I'm hoping I get the same response. Of course there is always the chance of melanoma reoccurring, but we have to just keep on living life and not let melanoma control you. You will deal with it if it happens again and even if it does come back it doesn't mean it will kill you. You just keep fighting it.
