Other Care (Wait and see...): And here I sit 6 years later and hating going to the doctor. However I have now finished college (for the most part) and to be what? An oncology nurse :) only 6 months in but I love it and since te nurses who took care of me are the ones who inspired me it only fits. So now here I sit taking care of cancer patients and wondering when mine will surface again... Very few of my patients know I was once in their shoes, I only let it escape when I feel it will benefit the patient, but I do feel that I give better care because if my experience, I take to heart their nausea and pain and weakness because I remember it all too well. Even though it was more that 8 years ago I still remember the days when it was a real accomplishment to be able to stand up under the power of my legs without help. So while I don't know where my own future stands at least in the meantime I can do my job with compassion and meaning.
