Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Esophagectomy on November 21st. 9 Days in the hospital. Recovery went very smoothly and he left the hospital days ahead of schedule. The worst part of it for him was just being in the hospital that long once he started feeling good.

Wonderful to hear your husband was feeling so well after the surgery. Has his after surgery recovery also been as expected? I will be finished with chemo and radiation by the end of this month so the question of surgery is going to be coming up.

Hi Billy. I am not a candidate for the surgery and I decided even if I were that I wouldn't go that route. I thought the radiation would kill me off with the horrible side effects but I did survive treatment and the aftermath for about 2 months. A scope by my radiologist in August found cancer in the tumor. I started on palliative taxil and Cyramza in September with few a very manageable side effects. My labs are always normal and my health seems to be excellent. I am going to have a scope January 15 to see what is happening with the tumor. Along the way what looks like a tumor in my kidney was discovered but not biopsied or otherwise examined. I am not experiencing any symptoms of that cancer. It is thought to be a renal cancer and not a metastasis of the Esophageal cancer. I am so grateful for my good health and for these months I have had.

Thank you for your interest. Your history amazes me. I wish you a Happy New Year as well.

That is Not Shingles....it's some time of Eczema or look up what I have called Grovers and it sounds like that. Shingles Hurts and is around the flank. Go to a Dermatologist and have a biopsy of one of the lesions and he will know Exactly what it is.....that's the only way to find out......

He needs to be seen and seen ASAP, and it doesn’t sound like his doctors are being very helpful. I would run not walk to a dermatologist now ( get him in tomorrow ) because you aren’t getting any answers. You do have to be very assertive with doctors now because they seem to have too many patients to take care of. At least that is my take on it, be pushy, be persistent, until you clear answers and treatment for him. I can’t tell you how often I have had to push my doctors and push them hard! But your husband is very lucky to have you by his side! HUGS!!!!

All treatments have been completed as of October 13th. We now wait three weeks before another PET scan, then will meet with the oncologist and the surgeon that same day to plan for surgery.
