    Hello RuthAnne,
My name is Peggy and I too was diagnosed with your above diagnosis. I'm 55, got my first chemo tx 3 weeks ago and today my hair is falling out by handfuls. Scared stupid but wanting to fight. Will have 16-18 chemo and they will scan to see if nodes are shrinking after round three. If so they will then add radiation to the mix. I hope you don't mind my contacting you but feel very alone right now despite tons of family and freinds supporting me. I hope this finds you feeling ok.
    Peggy

Hi Peggy, I don't mind you contacting me at all and I completely understand feeling alone. Friends & family can be very supportive and loving and all of that but when it comes down to it, you're the one with the disease. It's something people really can't 'get' unless you've been there. There are lots of mental hoops to jump through.

Sorry about your hair. Yikes! Your treatment must be a bit different from mine. Although my hair thinned considerably, it isn't so much that I'm ready to shave my head. I've heard from others that going bald makes the cancer very real for them and they feel like, "XXX! I'm really sick here." I hope that you're able to negotiate that okay.

I'm more than willing to communicate with you. It's good to have people to bounce things off of and vent. We can exchange emails if you like or we can just use this venue. I'll leave it up to you.

Know that you're not alone and that you can actually get used to having lung cancer and live happily and well.

Today my hair has begun to fall out in earnest. 3 weeks to the day of the last chemo treatment. very mixed emotions, and thinking i should just have my husband shave it off tonight, rather than watch this handful by handful fall out. Is this what most of you did?
