Hi, my name is Marilyn and I am 65 and live in Flagstaff. In June, 2014, I was diagnosed with the same thing. I started chemotherapy in October of that year for six months. Since then I have been receiving a targeted therapy every two months. I am now in remission. If you would like to ask me any questions or share your experiences, please contact me. Thanks.

Hi. It's great to hear you are doing well. I will be receiving my third round of chemo this month. I have wondered how others did on maintenance. I was just diagnosed in June and am also sarge iv.

I receive Rituxin via port as a maintenance treatment every two months for two years after six months of chemotherapy. I have four more treatments to go (8 months). I have tolerated it very well and only notice a little fatigue. I get a CBC blood test before each treatment and the treatments only last about four hours. They give me Benadryl via the port, but I have not had any allergic reactions. Sometimes it gives me a slight headache, but they always give me Tylenol with each treatment. I hope you find yourself in remission after your chemotherapy. Marilyn

Did you have it biopsied? How much turmeric are you taking? What kind of mushrooms?

It was biopsied when first found two years ago. They were going to do a biopsy for breast cancer and they did. I had to tell them it could be a lymphoma. The biopsy for that is different, so they did that too. I do not take a set amount of turmeric, just try to get it frequently but sometimes a week will go by without any. I get mostly button mushrooms two or three times a week, sometimes portabella or cremini.

Decision Point (Whether to receive "maintenance therapy" or not.): I decided to receive the Rituxin only every two months for one day for two years. I decided not to have a repeat PET scan after one year since I am not having any symptoms. I still get a little fatigued and have some trouble sleeping, but other than that I feel good.

Celebration (Remission): After six months of chemotherapy, I had another PET Scan which showed no "hot spots" anywhere. Of course, I felt very relieved and my whole family went to dinner to celebrate.

Side Effects (Confusion): I did suffer some confusion to a mild degree along with some loss of appetite, nausea, and quite a bit of fatigue. I was given anti-nausea pills and pain pills which helped with the nausea, appetite and sleep.
