Drug or Chemo Therapy: The temador pills are kicking my butt :(

      Hi Marlo,

What kind of difficulty are you having with Temodar? Is it fatigue? nausea? I have taken Temodar MANY times over my 18+ year journey. I was one of the original test subjects on it in the mid-90s. I've found it is a little easier to take if you take it with lemon-lime soda as opposed to water. The capsule doesn't stick to your tongue and throat like it does with water. Taking it with clear soda also helps with that nasty chemical smell.

Zofran worked well for nausea for me, but if it does not work for you, I recommend asking your doctor for Emend and Kytril. I hated the constipation fac tor with both Temodar and the anti-nausea med, so stay hydrated with plenty of fluids and add extra fiber to your diet.

Are you working right now? Is your employer accommodating you as needed?

Neat, did you get any pics with them? That would be awesome! I once swam/snorkeled in Hawaii, that was cool. Took some underwater pictures. This is great, looks like smooth water too.

Cozumel is awesome! I so want to go back. We did a beach day there on our cruise. A girl could get used to handsome men feeding her drinks and the best nachos I've ever eaten. The alcohol may have had something to do with why the nachos were so good, but I don't care. It was one of my best vacation experiences ever

    chemo pill

hI! my husband took temador...he took a low dosage every day for 6 weeks while doing radiation, then took a much higher dosage for 5 days per month for 6 months. Besides making him tired, he did not suffer side effects....he did take an anti nauseas pill as a precaution, but it did not affect him in that way. For having 'chemo', think it was a very effective and painless medication. Please feel free to reach out to me if this is what you will be taking also, I would be happy to help in any way I can :) best of luck

My husband took 180 mg of Temodar with radiation. Other than "chemo brain" for a few hours after the radiation and fatigue and weakness, he had no side effects. He did not even have to take anti-nausea medicine. Now he is on 360 mg for 5 days on and 23 days off and has weakness and fatigue to a greater extent and has to take an anti-nause medicine. Good luck with your choices. Oral chemo was a huge plus for him because he could take it at home, it did not take hours of treatment and there was no need for a port to be inserted.
