Are any of you on Herceptin + Cadcyla? Interested in your side effects. I'm on chemo 3 of 18 -every three weeks. Recurrence in same breast

I am not on Cadcyla but I am on Herceptin. I was told that if they did not find anything during surgery I would just have the remaining 6 months of Herceptin and that there is really no side effects from it alone. I do know that they have to do an Echo on my heart every three months to make sure my heart is not being damaged. They said if so, they simply discontinue until my heart repairs and then resume. They said it is reversible while some older chemo could do permanent heart damage. Thank God for Herceptin! ( : Hugs and wishing you well.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): I had my first chemo (Kadcyla & Herceptin) for this round of cancer...90 min chemo - 90 min observation. The last 20 min I had minor muscular skeletal discomfort and chilling, headache, but cleared as the flush was administered after the med was finished. Slept 10 hours that night but woke up feeling like my old self....only 16 more infusions and I will survive yet again!

Procedure or Surgery (Double Mastectomy): I decided when the cancer was back in the same breast that I would have a bilateral. I have not regretted that decision for one minute. I told the surgeon that I was 68 and healthy enough to go through the surgery and spiritually confident I could deal with a bilateral. If I waited and it came back again, who knows what health I would be in or if the insurance would cover it.

You are very smart. I was 61 when I had my BL and it was by choice because I didn't want the cancer coming back which it surely would have in the left breast. It had two clusters that were non cancer, but had I of waited it could very well have become cancer. You are making a wise decision for your life. And, there is always reconstruction, if you chose to do so. I ended up having implants put in after my DIEP flap failed.
