Congrats! I am still in the operation phase of mine. Last reconstruction surgery will probably be done sometime next year. My wound still has not completely healed from the first reconstruction surgery. I was diagnosed in June, had a double mastectomy June 28 and partial reconstruction July 30.

Decision Point (Remove my Implants.): I had to remove the implants to get my health back and relieve myself of the constant pain and inflammation.

Side Effects (Other): The Implants caused a lot of Inflammation and Pain, they leaked and did not stay in place.

Procedure or Surgery (Double Mastectomy): My Mastectomy went very well, however I did have a problem with the Silicone Implants and had them removed at a later date.

My surgeon told me when I made the decision to use my own tissue from the lower belly that I made a good decision because implants have to be replaced evey 15 years and silicone implants have a tendency to leak and if I was to chose implants it would be better to get the saline ones. If they leak they do no harm to your body. Just some info I thought you might like to know.
