I am a breast cancer "survivor", I was diagnosed in 2009, had the double radical mastectomy, chemo and radiation therapies. I was diagnosed at stage 4, I was so scared, and I must confess I still am, I feel that 2014 will be my last year. I don't know why, it's a very strong feeling though. But to be honest with you, I'm more scared for the people I will be leaving behind, than of actually dying. I look forward to it actually, I will no longer be in pain, and won't have to look at my children (and grandchildrens) faces and see their sadness. I'm tired, but mostly I'm tired of being a burden to them, they need to live their lives and to ENJOY their lives. My children are 27, 24, and 12' and I have two beautiful granddaughters ages 5 and 1. My youngest son was only 7 when I was diagnosed, he's at a tough age as it is without the added burden and stress of watching his mother die. I don't know your friend who has passed but I can almost guarantee you that she is at peace and only wants the best for those she has left behind. I can also guarantee you that she wants those that she loved to live for her and not to die along with her, so please for me (and her of course) live each day to the fullest, like it was your last, Life is meant for the living. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless you, the Holidays will always be tough, but it will get easier I promise!
