Hi LisaTexas, welcome!! I am also from Ft. Worth! I was stage IIB as well but had infiltrating lobular carcinoma. I was Her2 pos. as well as ER and PR positive. I am presently on Femara for hormone therapy. Who are your doctors and surgeons? My breast surgeon was Dr. Heyne, medical oncologist is Dr. Young, radiation oncologist was Dr. Shide, and plastic surgeon was Dr. Habash. How are you doing?

Wow, we have 2 of 4 doctors the same, 3 if we count Dr. Chow who is in the same office as Dr. Heyne. I've heard very good things about Dr. LeBlanc. So glad you are doing well! I'm doing ok. I'm older than you (57). I have lymphedema which is a daily struggle and have recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was/am very blessed with the doctors and surgeons I have/had and Joan Katz Breast Center was so helpful to me in the beginning of it all. It seems people in other areas of the country do not have the excellent resources we have here.

I am also on Letrozole. I also have severe dryness in the eyes. I hope that I do not develop any further problems. I have already had 4 surgeries on my right eye and 1 on my left eye, before starting the Letrozole. I was suicidal on the Tamoxifen, and developed severe tremors with the Armidex, to the point that I couldn't hold anything. I am in daily pain up to a level 7 out of 10. What is the answer? I have considered going off all meds and actually do that once every several months. What is quality of life vs quantity of life worth?

Charnelif, I'm sorry about your eye problems. Have you talked with your eye surgeon about your dry eyes since starting Letrozole? Does he think you should stop Letrozole? I totally understand about quality of life vrs. quantity. Have you told your oncologist that you want to stop hormone therapy? If so, what is your oncologist's attitude about it? I know my oncologist just wants to do what is best for me and give me the "gold standard" of care, but I think I would like to stop hormone therapy too. However, even though I know it is ultimately my decision, I know she will give me a bad time if I tell her I want to stop. She is a strong personality and intimidates me a bit. I know it is I who allow her to intimidate me, by giving in and not standing up for myself, but it is not easy for me to stand up to her. Perhaps it is because I am not 100% sure I should stop.

Has your oncologist suggested anything for the pain? Where are you having pain?

That sound terrible! when I suffered from dry eyes in the past, my ophthamologist put plugs in my tear ducts. There are two types, the permanent type (that can be removed) and the temporary type that dissolves over time. They basically keep the tears that you make from draining away.
      Best of luck to you!
