I am so sorry you are you are going through this. I was diagnosed in April 2014, stage 3A, T4. I have since bonded with two women who went through treatment, chemo and radiation. I (in part due to damage from Crohn's disease) had to have colostomy surgery. I am now having some emotional "after Cancer" sadness and frustration because my colostomy is permanent. In June the Gastro docs attempted to perform a colonoscopy but had to "abort" (I hate that word) the procedure due to post radiation damage that caused excessive bleeding and the possibility that the procedure could perforate the colon.
Please know that you are not alone. Thank God you have loving family support. I pray you will get through the treatment with no more complications.
I do agree that everyone, regular people and the Doctors learn to be more understanding about this diagnosis. It seems the stigma associated with our dancer is mean and certainly uninformed. Even the Gastro Dr. who saw me ( while in hospital in December 2015 due to bowel obstruction caused by radiation ) said to me my diagnosis of Anal Cancer was probably due to the HPV virus, inferring that I was practicing reckless sexual behavior. So wrong. We are being judged making some of us too embarrassed to reach out. It reminds me of the early days of Aids, there is a stigma attached.
Well, I am on your side, and you have much support from people who understand what you are going through. You will get through this. Know you are loved.
