Loss (Body part/function): Loss of lung capacity effects walking, biking, diving, really activity of any kind. So exercise is impossible resulting in weight gain and lethargy. I don't work off my energy so sleep problems ensue. Also, experienced hearing loss from chemo resulting in need for hearing aids at a cost of $6000. which medicare doesn't cover.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Receiving chemo was easy. IV infusion one day every three seeks. Never got sick or even nauseous. Some fatigue. First 5 treatments went smoothly. sixth one blew me out of the water. Couldn't get off the couch for a week. Got dark spots in my nails, lost 4 toe nails, lost hair (right after second treatment) and was left with neuropothy in feet and collapsed arm veins.. Fatigue went away, spots disappeared, nails and hair grew back. Feet and veins are still a problem.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): first attempt at surgery was unsuccessful as the tumor had spread and wrapped around my ribs. decision was made not to continue but try chemo to shrink the tumor before second operation. Tumor responded to chemo very well, shrunk it by 2/3 and second attempt at surgery was successful although more extensive than first thought to be necessary..
