Hey Merrilda, thanks for sharing your experience. It's surprising that your oncologist would act this way.. they all know that cancer care is expensive, but there are organizations out there that can help cover some or all of the costs. I would give the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society a call. You can find them online at LLS dot org. They have acopay assistance program, and they have been wonderful! They have helped me with my prescription and treatment copays since I have signed up.
I'm still working on getting my hospital bills under control. The Lymphoma Research Foundation offers a grant program I found out about.. and I contacted them and they have sent me some materials to apply. Their website is at Lymphoma dot org.
You are not the first, and sadly not the last to find out that their insurance stinks upon cancer diagnosis. These groups can help you get the financial end of it worked out so you can focus on getting better, spend more time with your animals. I think they may also have some recommendations for a better oncologist too :)
