I had "robotic" surgery (daVinci machine) at the end of October '11. I am 99% continent daytime, and 80+% continent nighttime. Still urinating more often than before - every 2.5-3 hours - that's apparently because my prostate was between 2X and 3X normal mass, and my bladder is retraining itself. Haven't yet had a spontaneous erection, but I _have_ had XXX.
So it'll get there.
That having been said, talk to your urologist wrt treatment options. I had a large mass - pretty much the entire organ - BUT it was well encapsulated. Surgery was my best bet.
Chemo is not a good first choice IF you haven't had metastases. Neither is radiation. Again - talk it over with your doc. Bring your wife along. ask questions and if you don't understand the answer, say so.
Keep bugging until you understand.
