I lost my husband on January 14th to renal cell cancer metascized to his lungs after four hear battle. I was hoping to be relieved because he would finally be out of pain, but I have had such a hard time--we spent 36 years together with five children and eight grandchildren and he was my life. I will pray for you

Thank you Robin--if it weren't for my faith, I do not know what I would do. I will pray for you too.

I know what you mean! There were times during our journey when I wondered how people without faith could bear such things.

You are so right--keep in touch if you like--I think it helps to talk to people going through similar experiences, at least it does for me. God bless.

My husband has had kidney cancer going on 4 years, but it causes him no pain. What does cause pain is the treatment and his psoriatic arthritis which has been debilitating for him. It seems if cancer treatment, while somewhat working, causes so many side effects and he cannot get treatment for psoriatic arthritis because that would break down his immune system, he has been toying with dilemma of quality of life. UCSF has been terrific, but they have no relief for arthritis which raises havoc with his body. He often says perhaps it is time to quit cancer treatment and have quality of life with medicines to relieve arthritis issues. He sleeps a lot but that is interrupted by joint pain and he is pretty miserable and up and down during the night. Any ideas?

Mike's had his kidney removed 2/1/12 and cancer had metasticized to lungs and he has been in treatment ever since. First Votrient, then Affinitor, then Inlyta and now nothing. Pet Scan in 6/14 showed cancer in lungs shrinking, then CT Scan last week showed cancer growing in lungs and new spot where kidney was removed. He coughed a lot of blood about a week and a half ago, then again a little last Saturday. He is in a lot of pain because of the arthritis. We see his cancer doc today and his arthritis doc this afternoon. If nothing can be done for cancer, then we will consider all pain relief available for arthritis. But next Tuesday we meet doctor at UCSF and they may have an experimental program that he may qualify for, so we have not given up hope. Thanks for all of the support--it really means a lot to me. I hate seeing Mike in so much pain!
