Last week my dad's oncologist recommended he start chemotherapy. My dad has prostate cancer that has spread into his bones - hips, spine and ribs. He is reluctant to try it and is thinking of no treatment whatsoever due to the horror stories he has heard about chemo. As a family we don't know how to help him, because he is so depressed.

As most people here will tell you, dealing with the reality of a cancer diagnosis is hard on so many levels. It sounds like your dad might benefit from a support group, or even joining WhatNext and talking to others who have been in his shoes. It is really scary when you don't know what to expect.

I'm going to suggest you also post this on the Questions section so you have more people share their thoughts with you. You can do this by clicking on the "Ask Network" link on your logged in home page or the "Questions" link at the top of this page. When you post needs/questions using our question feature, we route your question to everyone in the network who might be able to help.

Please know we are here for you and your family.
