Celebration (Other): So far I return to the doctor every three months to do blood work, all have been negative, as well as the six month mammograms. Less than a year after diagnosis, went to a week long cancer camp in Colorado with a group called First Descents and learned how to rock climb, will go again in August. Learning to fly fish with Casting for Recovery. Cancer was just a minor setback, I chose life.

Radiation (External radiation ): Thirty-six treatments of radiation. Decided to be the exception and not get tired. Worked the entire time, taking only time to go into town and take the radiation, exercised a lot, before radiation was completed ran a 5K, though not my fastest, was pleased to be able to do it.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Four treatmets of chemo (cytoxan and taxotere), once every three weeks. Lost my hair two weeks after the first treatment. The last day of my lalst chemo cycle was also the day I finalized my divorce, it was a day to celebrate life for me.

Procedure or Surgery (Lumpectomy): Surgery to remove the lump and to further biopsy another spot on my chest wall that the surgeon found during an MRI (subsequent MRI biospy and another core biopsy were negative but surgeon wasn't sure the radiologist had been able to get to the spot). Went into surgery not knowing if I would be having a lumpectomey or masectomy, gave surgeon permission to take care of whatever he found.

Oh No (Diagnosed): Very healthy 42 year old, lost weight due to stress from a divorce. No family history of breast cancer. Found lump during self-exam, finally mentioned it to my doctor and was sent for mammogram and ultrasound. Doctors told me I was very lucky to have found it, wanted to biopsy it the next day, called me to confirm it was IDC. Also I was triple negative...very scary, decided to do the genetic testing, which was negative also.
