Hi Millie14; I was diagnosed with ILC nearly 3 years ago. I had a lumpectomy and then radiation; the tumor was downgraded to a Stage1/Grade1 with the final biopsy results. I'm also ER Positive and currently taking Tamoxifen. This is a good site - as stated by others our type of breast cancer isn't as prevalent, so it's hard to find information sometimes. Another good resource is MyBreastCancerTeam. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. We've been where you are now and went through hearing those horrible words. We're here to help :)

I was diagnosed with stage 2A ILC this past January. Had a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removed. The lymph nodes were clear. The wider margin of the lumpectomy showed cancer cells so I went in for a mastectomy on February. The surgeon said that I will probably just need hormonal therapy (Tamoxifen or something like that). My oncologist sent slides of the breast tissue for genetic testing to determine the best mode of treatment (chemo, hormonal treatment only or both). Still waiting for the results. Hopefully I'll find out the results in a few days. It's been 2 weeks and the oncologist said it takes about 2 - 3 weeks to get the results. Thanks for the info. I'll check out MyBreasCancerTeam. Again, thanks so much for your support.

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Cancer in June of 2012. I had a lumpectomy in July 2012 and Radiation - 20 treatments in August of ’12. My cancer was found on a routine mammogram - it was too deep to feel. Mine is also Estrogen positive and I’m currently on Tamoxifen. I’m 57 (turned 56 right after diagnosis). My mammogram was clear this year. I live in Rochester, MN and work and receive care here. Good luck to you - Lobular isn’t that common.

Thank you very much for reaching out to me. I need to have a mastectomy. I won't know what further treatment I may need until I'm actually in surgery, they need to check the lymph nodes under my arm. Mine was also found in a mammogram, though I might have noticed it myself if I ever looked in a mirror while doing the breast exam - there is a "dent" when I hold up my arm. As you know, this is an incredibly sneaky form of breast cancer, it's really good at hiding. I'm about to start posting some questions to get some feedback. My journey with non-hodgkins lymphoma did'nt prepare me for this one.

Oh No (Weight Gain): I’ve gained about 25 pounds since my diagnosis a year ago. trying to eat healthy and starting to exercise again, but it’s frustrating that clothes i purchased, even as recently as 1 or 2 months ago don’t fit well
