Hi and welcome:
Don't look for the side effects everyone is different. He may not have any his first few treatments or he may have alot. Write them down each time. You need to find out what type of chemo he is on and what stage he is at. Talk with your oncologist and get meds for nausea etc ask them they will tell you what to have around just in case and your nurses will become your best friends and have all the information that you need. Sometimes its easier to talk to them instead of the drs. Good luck and keep us posted

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): My son was diagnosed last Monday. He started chemo today. I do not know what drug. What should I expect?

Please have him tell his dr about any side effects he has - there are many that you aren't told about in advance, because they are so rare (I had first-bite pain). If he's on Folfox (common for colon cancer) think about plastic flatware rather than metal silverware - cold is very painful. Ask questions, get him involved in the forums. There is lots of information out there.

thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. He has nausea medication, not sure at this time what it is. Nor do I know what type of chemo he has been given.....will check w/ his Dr to find out. He is home from the hospital and in a much better frame of mind and more relaxed. He's pretty tired....I will try to talk to him; though he has not been too open. He is married, his wife is working. I'm trying to help as best I can without interferring w/ their lives.
