Oh No (Just Diagnosed): Is it normal to wait 3 months for surgery?

I was diagnosed in March (2014) and had surgery the beginning of June. Part of the slowness was determining what surgery was appropriate for me, meeting with the surgeon a couple of times, meeting with the plastic surgeon once I decided on reconstruction along with my double mastectomy and then scheduling all the appropriate doctors etc. My oncologist indicated that surgery didn't need to be viewed as an emergency, but nor did he want me waiting six months.

I should add that I did surgery first, followed by chemo and herceptin. I am HER2+ Sorry to read below that this is your second bout with cancer. Sending good thoughts your way.

This is a good site to get lots of information and support. I know that you have a tough diagnosis. My diagnosis was different but you are in my prayers as you begin. ElaineI

Hi Cherie. My only concern is that it's been three months and nothing has been done. My breast is actually starting to hurt. I'm told that surgery date May 30, can't be changed. In the meantime, i worry that the tumor is growing and it will have spread to the lymph nodes by the time we get to it. Making me crazy!

Good morning. I was diagnosed with the exact same in February. I have received 3 chemotherapy treatments so far. Please let me know if you need any questions or guide through this journey. I will be praying for you.
