My mother in law is a colon cancer survivor, has been over 20+ years. She is 88 years old and still has her port. They are now talking about removing it because they are afraid it may crumble and get her in blood stream. They are also telling us it most likely will crumble during surgery and could still be a problem. We are looking for any advice on what we should do. My husband and I feel not having the surgery would be the best scenario. She is not well anyway, why put her through it?
