Decision Point: Where to seek treatment without a job or insurance? I have paid into this American system my whole life, and when circumstances get tough financially, it seems that I simply do not qualify for help.

Oh No (Diagnosed): I was just diagnosed with Figo grade 3,Endometrial Andenocarcinoma. Hoping for surgery soon. I recently lost my job, so have no insurance. I was advised to go off my progesterone so my hemmoraging starts again. This will hopefully gain my admittance through the emergency room and my much needed surgery. Aside from that I have hit major road blocks in getting this treated. You would think I simply have a cold. This is urgent, but not an emergency according to the professionals I spoke with. I don"t know, it sounds pretty life threatening to me! I guess I have to be be bleeding to death before they will take me seriously. I was diagnosed away from home while working accross the country. My husband and I drove home for treatment, and are at a loss for where we can start. Seems the wait times could progress mequickly to the next stage. Has anyone else experienced this frustration?

I hope you found help! We have been going through the same difficulty with my mother. It really seems that the help available (if you can even get help) is really inadequate without insurance. My mother was finally able to get Medical, which will help (I hope). I wish you the best and hope you got the assistance you needed. It is incredibly how county hospitals or doctors don't take this seriously. My mother who has had cancer twice, the last time resulting in a hysterectomy, went to the emergency room with complaints that she was having painful bleeding for over a year... they didn't even do an exam on her. They turned her away, stating she just needed hormone therapy because of her hysterectomy. Months later, we've finally had a biopsy done and learned she has endometrial adenocarcinoma. The American healthcare system for those without insurance has disgusted me.
