Drug or Chemo Therapy (Hormone therapy): There is a lot to say about lupron and what it has done to me, but I won't say more in this forum.

Radiation (External radiation ): My radiation experience was very good. I had some internal pain, but it was sporadic and several weeks into my six week treatment. Some bowel issues, but minor. Some bladder issues, but not as bad as that immediately after the robotic prostatectomy.

Procedure or Surgery (Robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy): The surgery was in March 2012. It was nerve sparing, but the healing continues.

Decision Point (I investigated radiation, prostatectomy, etc. ): Decided on robotic prostatectomy after talking with men of various ages who had seeds, direct beam, radical removal, and robotic removal. One tried the hormone therapy.

Oh No (Had no symptoms. Total surprise when PSA came back at 16.7): Had no clue what a PSA was when I got the number. Didn't know what the number meant either. Ironically, in December 2011, I was trying to convince my primary care physician to let me drop taking simvistatin. Long story short, he would only agree to cut the dosage, but wanted a baseline lipid immediately and told me to get another in June 2012 to see if my levels were therapeutic. Little did I know he tacked a PSA on the order and that is how my journey began.
