After much prayer and deliberation I have made two major decisions at this stage of my cancer walk. First I am back to work full time. First time in 3 years so I am tired but going good. 2nd, I have taken that leap of faith and am having my port taken out. My last treatment was in February and I have been to scared to take it out. But then I had to ask myself... Do I believe in my God or do I not.. If I did then I needed to let go of this security blanket and take a leap of faith. So It will be taken out in February. Now I am going to sneak a third one in here.. I have spent the last 8 weeks dealing with whooping cough.. Please please please guys and gals, check to see if you are in need of that booster. It is coming back with a vengeance and it about kicked my butt!! It is not fun. So please keep your heads up and stay away from anyone with a bad cough. And get the booster! its well worth it.

Celebration (Breakthrough): I went in for my 3 month check up today. They did the usual.. Flushed my port, drew blood.. and then I went in to see the Dr. That visit is what made the whole day beaming... He looked back at my official remission date which is October 2010. Now I thought that the time for relapse started after my maintenance was over which was in February of this year. So here I am, thinking that the long road was just starting and I found out that that isnt the case. That it goes by the actual remission date.. So that means I have made it three years. And he said that he is confidant that I will stay in remission. So he has moved me to 6 month visits. And in February for my next visit if everything is still going good and strong then I can have my port taken out too !!! YAY!! I have dreamed of this day and I am so excited!

Yawwn, I am so tired but it felt good to work for the first time in a long while! It did not take to long to pick everything up again. But then again after 19 years in the dental field I would think that I would remember. :) I am tired and I have had to remember to take it easy. But it is only part time and that is good. and it is in the afternoon and that is even better, because I still wake up feeling nauseous and groggy. The only discouraging part is my memory is not what it used to be.. Now if I can figure if it is chemo related or just being 40 lol!

That's great, glad to hear you're back to work. The memory must be the chemo, because 40 is almost like being a teenager!

Andy - you got that right, 40 is a kid. I can't tell if I am tired because of cancer. Tired because of chemo. Or tired because I am 57. I have never had or been any of these until this year so I can't say, but I got a sneaky suspicion that cancer and chemo have a lot to do with it.

Yeah, the staying tired thing is a normal thing. I had to go home after about three each day for a nap.

Life after cancer is tricky. in some ways you are stuck thinking that you have to stay home, can not be in the sun and enjoy life. I know in my case a lot of my thinking came from low blood counts, chemo, and being quarantined for so long. Well this 4th of July I broke through my own fears and we went spent a glorious weekend in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. It was a blast! Took the dog and taught her how to swim, and just enjoyed life. It is time. Yesterday I started a new job. It is part time, but it is the first time in 3 years that I have had a job and even felt up to working so I am excited!

Every second is a scene from a new movie. And you're your own director's cut. You are on a high dive jumping off into a new life. It;s the new normal. You're new and everyone else is normal!

Thank you, my goal is to keep everyone inspired to keep fighting and to let everyone know that there are many of us out here that have beaten cancer more than once, and we are still kicking. Thanks for the kind words. Hope your doing well.
