Oh No (Little to no support team): As a Veteran, I was the 2nd female in the history of our hospital to be treated: the first was just 2 wks ahead of me; Everything went well, until Radiation Therapy; then all XXX broke loose. Poor (humanity) treatment! First, the curtain to the room wouldn't close, and neither would the door, anyone going to receive treatment had to walk straight toward my room; here I was, stripped from the waist up, and not covered in any way for the simulation. The attendants didn't even care, that I was exposed to the outer area.To this day, I still have panic attacks if I have to go near that location. Time and patience will be the only thing to help... I also was the 2nd in the History of the VA to get the Hand/Foot Syndrome. That was a pain. Emergency trip to Chemo Nurse; PDR on desk, with listed symptoms, What a relief, when given the meds to combat that. Other than that, I was very strong, and managed through it all; until the Radiation Therapy, as that is when my Temp Job had to end. Talk about depression! Whew.... that was a fight in its self! But I made it through, and have found my NEW Normal, and loving life, and staying in contact with other survivors.
