Other Care (Nautropathic, List serve, energy, prayer): I go to a naturopath and I say "thank the Lord" for her. Oncology is great but when it comes to nutrition or supplementation they do nothing, usually. (The Cancer Treatment Centers of America, where I went after the first diagnosis do though, and I take my cue from them.) Case in point, my naturopath just gave me B supplements that have helped my fibromyalgia muscle pain, mood and all over well being feelings. I get energy healings and am on lots of prayer groups. I am a member of a terrific list serve for metastatic breast cancer patients. They have helped me in so many ways.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Bone strengthening drugs): At first I was infused with Zometa every six weeks. I didn't know what was happening but now know that it makes me severely depressed, along with a few days of over all body pain. This lasts about two weeks after the infusion. I ended up in psychiatric care hospitalized due to suicidal thoughts and after trial and error I now am on two anti depressants and an anti-anxiety drug.

Clinical Trial: I went on a blind clinical trail with Avastin and Femara, an aromatase inhibitor, or placebo and Femara. They unblinded it and it turned out I was placebo. I was relieved actually the more I heard about the side effects of Avastin. I have been stable for two years. At first the tumors shrunk and since then they have not changed.

Oh No (Cancer has spread/Metastasized): In 2008, not more than a year after diagnosis I started having extreme back pain. Finally in 2009 my chiropractor said I should get an MRI because he thought I might have a compression fracture due to my osteoporosis. A very sad sad day I found out the cancer was in most of my thorasic spine, I had three fractures and it was also in my liver. Why do doctors not scan their patients as a rule? They would have found it earlier. Mad!

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Hormone therapy): I took tamoxafen and had minimal side effects, just hot flashes. I did not have to get any chemotherapy because I took a DNA test that deemed my cancer as "non-agressive" and not a candidate for chemo. So, the next two years I was not scanned or checked for metastisis, just given blood tests.

Radiation (External radiation ): I am so glad I didn't let them "tatoo" me. "Oh it will just look like a freckle." Ha! The one tatoo I have is blue and stands out. Anyway I had them draw on me with a magic marker. They said the sensitivity in my breast "could take up to a year" to diminish. Ha! It is 2011 now, four years and my whole breast still feels like tiny pin XXX if I touch it and is crooked. The doctor said it was good compared to others but I think it looks like it has a dart in it.
