LIfe is great and happiness is a choice.
For me, I never fought my illness or my treatment. I simply allowed healing. I believe the body wants to be well. It requires all the positive energy possible and "fighting" for me was not positive. I am grateful for peace, happiness, wholeness, healing, love, friends and family.
I am also grateful for my cancer. It is a melancholy friend that brought with it important lessons and infinite love. -

Celebration (Finished treatment): I'm cancer free, got a new job, a new home a new life and during my illness my family and friends demonstrated to me how loved I am.

Loss (Body part/function): I know that overall I am lucky to have my life, yet the radiation treatment cost me a lovely baritone singing voice. I can't sing at all now. My speaking voice is still strong. I'll just never sing in a choir or perform musical theatre again. I guess it's a good think that I didn't pursue voice in college and instead got a BS and and MBA. All things work out in the end. :)

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): I had a feeding tube inserted in my stomach. I had an IV port inserted in my chest. Then after the chemo and radiation, I had a neck dissection to remove the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): I was very sick and couldn't eat. I lost 85 lbs in 45 days. I was originally supposed to have 3 courses of Cisplatin and after the second, the doctors had to stop because they were concerned that I would die from the therapy.

Radiation (External radiation ): The worst aspect of the radiation was that my tongue actually ruptured, putting me into the hospital and onto a pain medication drip for 29 days.
