    Hi Grammyma,
I get Lanreotide injections every 28 days. I was on Afinitor until January, but it quit working. I have a primary in my duodenum that they won't remove and 30 tumors in my liver......4 which are 5". I had a Y90 radiation treatment in March and am having all sorts of issues.
My oncologist, I feel, doesn't listen to what side-effects I am experiencing. He doesn't believe in "carcinoid" symptoms.
I am frustrated more than anything.
I plan to do some juicing and doing more raw foods. My oncologist doesn't agree one way or the other.
Thank you for reaching out to me.

      Hi, PaigeB,
Maybe it's time to ask for a second opinion. I'm lucky that my oncologist is a good listener and pays attention to my symptoms. He didn't always, until last July I asked for an appointment just to talk. We talked for 1 1/2 hours and he explained all my options and listened to my complaints/questions and answered them. He always makes sure we're on the same page.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time. At least you're fighting and trying things to see if they work. I had surgery to remove some of the tumors on my liver, and then had radio frequency ablation to try to remove some more. I am at a loss as to why your oncologist hasn't tried some of these methods. Maybe you could ask him if some of these things would help. In the meantime, I'm here for you anytime you want to reach out. I'll put you on our church prayer list if that's OK with you. Let me know. Hang in there! I'll keep in touch.

Has anyone gone through a Y90 radiation treatment? Outcome, positive or negative?

I had Y-90 on the right lobe of my liver on Nov. 24, 2015. The scan on Feb 24, 2016 appeared as if the huge 7 cm tumor had shrunk. (The large tumor was pressing against my rib cage which caused much discomfort. That discomfort is gone now.)

However, there were about 9 new small (around 1 cm in size) across both the right and left lobes (previously there were none on the left lobe). That was a shock to me and so I'm not sure the Y-90 worked or not, but the doc says it did. Maybe that large tumor broke up into the smaller ones?

On April 12, 2016 I had the y-90 done to the left lobe to see if it will kill off the new tumors. In a couple months I'll have a new scan to see if it worked.

Did you have it? or are you scheduled to have it done? Keep us posted and best wishes!

My 84 year old father had the procedure done with positive results. Inoperable large liver tumor has continued shrinking after 3 years.
