Oh No (Diagnosed): Due to a family history of precancerous polyps, it was recommended I have my 1st colonoscopy at age 40. At that point I had 3 non-cancerous polyps. It was recommended I have another colonoscopy in two years. So on December 20th, 2011, I had my second colonoscopy. The dr came out and said I had 2 polyps, but not to worry. They were very small, and not the worrisome kind, but they would still send them off for testing. But....
On December 22nd she called me and said she was so sorry to tell me, but one of the polyps was cancerous and that they didn't think they got all the edges when removed in the colonoscopy. She said I would need surgery.
Then things got crazy....another colonoscopy on Dec. 23 to tattoo the spot for the surgeon, a CT scans, scheduling appointments with doctors. It all happened so fast.

Sounds like they still found it in the very early stages. Good luck!

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): 2nd treatment down. Little bit sensitivity to cold liquids (found by accident). Haven't been sleeping well. Got a prescription for that today, hope it helps :-)

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well. I am a little nervous about starting chemo. I will be starting in January with a 48 hour pump every 2 weeks. I am still home recovering from my colon surgery but just reading your post have put me at ease. Thank you for sharing.

Procedure or Surgery (Colon surgery (colectomy or hemicolectomy)): Meet with a surgeon a couple of days after Christmas. He was great. Said he was concerned due to family history that my it might he genetic, so Lynch Syndrome testing was ordered (came back negative). Since it wasn't genetic, he said only a small portion of my lower colon needed to be removed along with the nearby lymph nodes. The polyp was very small and he felt that surgery should take care of it....no chemo needed. I had surgery on January 26th. The surgery went great. I was in the hospital for 5 days, but the pain was minimal. 12 lymph nodes were tested and only 1 was found to be cancerous. So this made me Stage 3a...chemo needed.
