Glad to here things are going well for you. I am keeping an eye on your progress. Keep me posted with your success and side effects both short and long term from the radiation. Palm Bay Jim. I to am facing Salvage Radiation at the VA Tampa. Are they doing radiation to just the Prostate Bed, and how many gys. My PSA has stayed the same for the last 3 months from .87 in 1/2012 to .85 4/2012. I don't know what that means. I hope it will continue to go down. I talked to my Dr. and he said he is not sure what it means. So I am going to what till my next PSA in June. The Dr. said I have time before doing any treatment. GOOD LUCK

Check out what I have written of what has happened to me after the salvage radiation. Did they tell you about the chronic bladder effect? They never mentioned it to me. After 6 years the lining of my bladder let loose and I passed a great deal of blood and clots. Borderline painful but scary as XXX!!!!!!!!!! Ended up in the ER.

I too had surgery March 2011, also Patel. 6 months later PSA started too rise. PSA is now .87. I am in the VA system and they want to do Salvage Radiation in Tampa. 38 treatments 68 gys. I am worried about side effects both short and long term. I have a friend who had Radiation and seeds instead of surgery. He is on Flomax and has to carry a change of clothes with him with bowel side effects. I am more worried about side effects than the treatment being successful. Has anyone had Salvage Radiation treatment at the VA Tampa.

Hey Jim ....did not have my treatment at the VA... But I would think radiation at this point in timewould be fairly equal ..I was treated at Moffitt using a NOVILS machine ... External beam radiation.... As other have experienced ...at about #15 ...I started to have bowel symptoms...and a little increase in urinary activity ..nothing that was uncontrollable ..Since finishing up 40 treatments ....both effects are subsiding (two weeks out). I'm feeling mire like me again... Had a PSA. Drawn on the final day of treatment ...and to my surprise...my PSA dropped .02 from .40 to .38 it did rise during treatment ...Not doing anything ...I'm sure would not be the answer or give the outcome we are looking for ...As far as sexual function ...I'm still no place where I want to be ...but....do see and feel some slight improvements...I know of men that took better than two years ..to regain a workable erection ...so I have not given up hope .... Go to US Too.com and look for the PSAI blog /forum ...a lot of good straight talk ...and info to get us back UP and running ....Hope this helps you out some ....In G-d we trust ....all others pay CASH ...I'm here in Z-Hills . if you want to talk ..Larry ...
