Hi there lady. I would suggest the cancer clinic in her local community. I know when I received my chemo they had survivors reaching out to other survivors by phone program. This was at UC Davis in Sacramento and I imagine other hospital cancer clinics may offer a similar program.too. I would also recommend the site OCRAhope.org for useful information and for the opportunity to become more involved with other survivors. Every year they sponsor a conference for survivors and caregivers. Last year it was in Seattle Washington, this year it will be in Washington DC. I have attended two of these conferences and it is a very uplifting , informative, and positive experience.

This is a great question and all of the answers you have been given are great. Lots of time the cancer center they go to might right the charges off as well. It just takes time and research to find the answers and this place is a great place to start.

That's right. I don't know how I forgot about direct help from the doctor and health system, because mine wrote off my co-pays and deductible for surgery. Telling your doctor's office might save you a lot of time.

Geekling, if I went to a doctor in private practice I would agree, but when you go to a large health system, it's so big the financial counseling people are on another floor or building, and your doctors don't know.

Medicaid is Federal block grant money that the states handle however they want, so write your State legislators.

I had the privilege of speaking last Saturday at a Survivor's Celebration. (2 of my favorite words.) This is a program called Women Guiding Women, (another 3 great words.) It is through the Memorial Care Health System in Long Beach, CA. If you live in the area, you might want to check them out. They have a peer mentoring program for newly diagnosed breast or gynecologic cancer patients. This is a GREAT group of women...helping women. So impressive. And so great to have a mentor if you are newly diagnosed "charting new waters."

Anyone else see this in the news last week? Exercise seems to help everything, including preventing ovarian and a recurrence.
