Hi papa I’ll, thank you for your kind words. I am not on therapy. I have been on 4 clinical trials, iL2 interferon and Yervoy. I am on watch and wait. I am glad you are fighting. I have fought hard. God bless, and good luck on Keytruda, which is about a million times better than any med I have been on. I don’t know why I am still here, but if I can give hope to anybody that is is as good a reason as any. Stay in touch.

Hi Terri, just saw your wall post to Mark and wanted to touch base as I was diagnosed Stage IV melanoma in January and then scan and CT biopsy showed tumor now on my liver. On Keytruda but liver tumor has still grown larger. Just had a CT-placed fiducial (gold) beads) placed and now scheduled for CT confirmation of placement to then to start 6 every other days of focused radiation in hopes of destroying the tumor, while still taking every three week (Tuesday) session of Keytruda infusion. . And, on top I thin kl I am now exhibiting side effects from Keytruda as my finger joints, arm and shoulder muscles are sore and tight...as if I pulled muscles after hard labor. Trying to keep it all together and keep the faith at same time. Any thoughts, experience advice beyond that expressed to Mark appreciated in seeing that you are a 9 year survivor and now becoming my hero. Also I gather even after 9 years you are still on some on-going therapy. Thank you. .

Remember with immunotherapy it gets worse before it gets better. Hugs.

Hi Rebecca and welcome to WhatNext where you will find both support and answers to many of your questions. I also have melanoma, which was initially diagnosed on my scalp just over two years ago and was melanoma-free for two years until my January scans showed it had spread to my liver. I am now being treated with Keytruda and am being prepared for targeted radiation to destroy the liver tumor. Please check back on the site regularly to learn how others are dealing with their melanoma, ask questions, provide comments as we are all in this battle together. And, should you have any specific questions for me as to my metastatic melanoma, do not hesitate to reach out. Keep the faith.

Thanks for all your prayers and wishes as I expect I will need them all in the coming days and months. Next Thursday I am scheduled for a CT-guided fiducial marker placement (small gold markers) implanted direct into my liver tumor so they will be able to easily identify the exact location to aim the radiation. But, even before that occurs the following week I need to be at the hospital for two days of confirming CT-scans to be precise as to location verification as the liver tends to be mobile and not static and they need to have a finite path to aim the radiation. After all of this, the following week -- as planned as of today -- will have me back at the hospital for five days of focused beam radiation.. All this is on top of my every three week visit for the Keytruda. And, then it can be up to 5-6 months before we know if the radiation shrunk or better yet destroyed the liver tumor while the Keytruda is doing its job preventing new tumors growth. Boy, what an ordeal. So, let's all keep the faith and definitely be taking those baths.

Thanks SandiA for checking in with me. At this juncture in treatment your support truly means a lot. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be first meeting with the radiology oncologist to learn about incorporating this into my ongoing Keytruda infusion therapy. I believe the type of radiation planned will be proton beam. Adding this to the protocol is in the hope that the radiation will be able to destroy the growing malignancy on my liver. As it appears the Keytruda is working on any melanoma cells else where, but on my liver. We'll hope and see, as we all must keep the faith. .
